NEW AWARD
FASEB MARC AWARDS

FASEB'S Office of MARC and Professional Development Programs is offering travel awards for under represented minority graduate students, postdoctorates and junior faculty (assistant professors within 1 year of appointment) to support participation in the Immunohistochemistry & Microscopy Short Course. Participation in this 4-day course is limited. The $1850 award must apply to related travel expenses (air/ground transportation) and course registration for applicants who are approved to participate in the short course and receive approval for the travel award. Participation in the HCS meeting preceding the course is encouraged if within the $1850. The application deadline for the MARC Travel Awards is February 19th, 2010. 1. Research Scientist Travel Awards
Up to five (5) awards of $1000 are designated for scientists who are early in their careers (academic, industrial, government scientists) to support attendance at The Histochemical Society's annual meeting. Scientists who utilize molecular imaging techniques for cells and tissues in their research are encouraged to apply.

2. The Histochemical Society Outstanding Young Investigator Award
The Outstanding Young Investigator Award is presented at The Histochemical Society's annual meeting. This is a cash award in the amount of $1000 to be given to a junior investigator who demonstrates exceptional potential as a histochemist.

3. Travel Awards for Students and Postdoctoral Fellows
Up to five (5) awards, each for $500, will be given to young histochemists in training to attend the annual meeting of the Society. Students who are HCS Members and working toward a doctoral degree or in post doctoral fellowships are eligible to apply.

4. The Vector Laboratories Young Investigator Award

This award consists of a certificate and a $500 cash prize to defray travel expenses to the annual meeting.


5. The Ralph D. Lillie Award

 This award consists of a certificate, a $200 cash prize and a travel award to support attendance at the annual meeting. The applicant must be a doctoral student or first year post-doctoral fellow.


6. HCS Short Course Scholarship
One (1) scholarship will be given to an applicant who is either a junior faculty member in the early stage of his/her academic career, a histochemist in training, or a student working toward a doctoral degree or in post doctoral fellowships. HCS membership is required.


7. The Anna-Mary Carpenter-Ellen M. Rasch Award

This award recognizes the outstanding efforts and contributions by Drs. Anna-Mary Carpenter and Ellen M. Rasch. The award is given to recognize individuals who have made outstanding contributions and service to the Society.
